Vacation
Vacation accrual begins immediately for full-time employees and is calculated based on full calendar years (Jan 1 through Dec 31). The employee earns one vacation day for each full month of continuous service up to a maximum of 5 days for the first year. These days are not available to be used until Jan 1 of the following year. Jan 1st of year 2 – 8 is 10 days earned. Jan 1st of year 8-14 is 15 days earned and 15 years and beyond is 20 days earned. Management must approve requested time off. Any unused vacation days will be forfeited if not used by the end of the year available for use. They do not roll over into the next year.
Holiday Pay
The Company observes the following six holidays as paid holidays and our offices will be closed on these days. The employee must be employed full-time by Summitt Trucking, LLC for 90 days before receiving Holiday pay. Extended coverage personnel will be working their normally scheduled shifts.

Office
Extended coverage personnel are expected to work at their normal shift regardless of the holiday at their normal rate of pay. As a regular full-time employee, you will be paid for legal holidays when we are closed unless you are absent without permission on the last scheduled working day preceding the holiday or the first scheduled working day following the holiday. Full-time employees receive eight hours pay at their regular rate of pay for the six holidays or one day of salary. Holiday pay will not be awarded to employees on leaves of absence or on workers compensation. Should a holiday fall during your vacation, your vacation time may be extended by equivalent time or you may take additional time at a later date.
Drivers
As a regular full-time employee you will be paid for legal holidays when we are closed unless you are absent without permission on the last scheduled working day preceding the holiday or the first scheduled working day following the holiday. Over the road drivers will be paid a flat $80.00 and hourly drivers will receive eight hours pay at their regular rate of pay for the holiday. Holiday pay will not be awarded to employees on leaves of absence or on workers compensation. Should a holiday fall during your vacation, your vacation time may be extended by equivalent time or you may take additional time at a later date.
Bereavement Leave
Full-time employees may be granted up to a three-day paid leave of absence ($80 per day) in the event of the death of an immediate family member. Immediate family members include spouse, parent, child, brother, sister and stepchildren. A one-day leave of absence will be granted in the event of the death of a grandmother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son in –law, daughter in-law, or relative living with you. Unpaid time off may be granted in the event of the death of other family members. Proof of the relative’s passing from the funeral home or newspaper must be provided to Human Resources.
Basic Life
All full-time employees will be enrolled in a company paid life insurance policy of $20,000. This policy will include an additional benefit for accidental death and dismemberment. Full-time employees are eligible for Basic Life Insurance the first of the month following the completion of
90 days active employment.
