  Home time:  
     
  We pride ourselves in the fact that we are a PRO DRIVER company. At Summitt you will typically get home weekly but may be out on the road up to 10 days with 2 days home. We also allow drivers to stay out longer and receive more home time, as well as, the option to be home every other weekend. In addition, Summitt highly encourages our drivers to take paid holidays and vacations to enjoy additional home time so that they may be more safe and productive drivers.  
     
  Compensation:  
     
 

Independent Contractor

  • Owner Operator pay Base Rate (all miles) 93 cents-per-mile
  • Plus fuel surcharge (all miles)
  • Northeast Premium Pay 3 cents-per-mile
  • Hazmat Premium Pay 2 cents-per-mile
  • New York (5 borough pay) $100
  • Company Paid Base Plates and Permits
  • No Trailer Rental Fees
  • Reimbursed Tolls and Scales
  • Medical Coverage Programs Available
  • Weekly Settlements
  • Group Rates on Bobtail, Physical Damage and Occupational Accident Insurance
  • Fuel Tax deducted at 1.5 cents per mile and filed quarterly with no administrative fees
  • Fuel card and Fuel discounts using company's network
  • Stop Pay - $25 excluding first and last
  • Layover Pay - $100 per day after 24 hours
  • Detention Pay - 100% of collected

Company Driver Raises
1/2 cent increase every six months, Starting on the month following their anniversary date.
 
All Company Drivers
Will be issued an hourly rate of pay, a solo rate of pay, and a team rate of pay
  Hourly pay will be paid for all runs under 150 miles
  All runs over 150 miles will be paid Mileage
 
Company Teams
Pay rates will be calculated for each individual team member
 
 
     
 
Company Driver City Pay
Starting Pay $12.37 Per Hour
No break in longevity pay structure.
Over 150 Miles Driver will be paid mileage for all runs over 150 miles from their home terminal plus applicable accessorial pay.
Under 150 Miles Drivers will be paid hourly for all runs under 150 miles from their home terminal plus applicable accessorial pay.
 
 
 
     
  We pay our drivers weekly, every Friday for all loads completed by midnight the previous Saturday. As a driver for Summitt Trucking you will enjoy six paid holidays per year. Extra pay if you are required to make extra pickups, stops or handle freight. You will be entitled to paid vacations, or in the event of a death in your immediate family, a paid funeral leave of up to three days.  
   
  Equipment:  
   
 

At Summitt Trucking we strive to give our drivers the most current technology in the safest equipment on the road today. We have several makes and models of tractors including Peterbuilt's, Kenworth's, International's, Freightliner's, and Volvo's. All are equipped with the Eaton Vorad collision avoidance system, QualComm satellite communications and most are equipped with a built in refrigerators and CD sound systems.

We are in the process of installing generator kits on all road trucks that will provide heating and air conditioning, A/C power outlets in the sleeper, and circulate water to the engine block removing the need to plug in the trucks block heater in cold weather. In the near future all Summitt trailers will be equipped with un-tethered trailer tracking, allowing better utilization of our trailer fleet.

Summitt Trucking currently contributes 54% of a single drivers policy premium, allowing our drivers to gain coverage for themselves and their families at a great price.
